TALLER TOWERS = MORE POWER

Parafold Makes It Easy to Use a Taller Tower and Lower Your COE

When choosing your tower, keep in mind that increasing tower height is one of the best ways to lower COE. Parafold Towers offers small wind (1–100 kW) towers up to 160 feet. In order to perform efficiently, a wind turbine must be located in an unobstructed path to the wind. A turbine should be installed on a tower that is a minimum of 30 feet above and 300 feet away from any obstructions. Winds become smoother and faster as height increases. As a general rule, the larger the turbine, the taller the tower. For example, a wind turbine will generally need a tower height of at least 80’ to minimize turbulence and operate efficiently. Due to the fact that the power in the wind increases with the cube of the wind speed, a 10% increase in wind speed results in a 33% increase in power.
