Don Miller

Don Miller is the CEO of Catadon Systems, Inc., the parent of Parafold Towers.  Prior to starting Catadon Systems Don founded Fallbrook Technologies, Inc., and is also the inventor of the NuVinci CVP, Fallbrook's flagship product. He is responsible for its design and development, and he wrote the early patents for the NuVinci CVP.  Fallbrook Technologies formed a subsidiary, Viryd Technologies, to commercialize the NuVinci CVP for the wind industry, which lowers the cost of energy for wind turbines.  Don has studied extensively the application of the NuVinci CVP in a wind turbine and quantified the benefits.  He has designed and built numerous small wind turbines and wind tunnels, and he is an author on publications for the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).  Don is an inventor on over 300 patents and patent applications, is committed to renewable energy, and enjoys surfing and cycling.

Dr. Emanuel Hellman

Emanuel Hellman is an investor and physician. His medical practice has included clinical and medical instruction at Georgetown Medical School, Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Hospital, Tufts University Medical School, Cambridge City Hospital, and Boston City Hospital. Dr. Hellman was a Lecturer for the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences at M.I.T. and was Director for the Department of Medicine at Cambridge City Hospital. In 1972, he moved to Tucson, Arizona and formed an Internal Medicine and Cardiology Practice at Alban Medical Associates, P.C. and was the President and Founder. Dr. Hellman was also Attending Staff Physician at Tucson Medical Center and the Associate in Medicine at the University of Arizona School of Medicine. Dr. Hellman's focus has also been the primary practice of internal medicine with international consultation and teaching in Peru, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and China. He has also published several articles on his extensive research and practice. Emanuel is currently the Director of Biological Targets, Inc., an R&D company that develops biotechnological products for agriculture, medicine and the environment through biological discoveries.

Emanuel received with distinction his AB in Engineering Sciences and applied physics from Harvard and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School.

 

Dr. Hugh C. Thompson III

Hugh Thompson is passionate about renewable energy and has invested in multiple clean tech companies, including Viryd Technologies and Fallbrook Technologies. He is an orthopedic surgeon and was a partner in an orthopedic practice in Tucson and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is now retired from the practice of medicine.

Hugh has served on the Board of Directors of the Pima County Medical Society, the TMCHE Health Network, the Tucson Medical Center Hospice, the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, Fallbrook Technologies, and Breakers Water Park. He has served as President of Rotary Club Tucson and has received many Rotary Club awards including the Rotary International Service Above Self Award, the Rotary International Four Avenues of Service Citation, the Tucson Rotary Service Above Self Award and the Orville McPhearson Award. He was Director of the Medical Division of United Way and was Medical Advisor Projector Amanecer in Hermosillo, Mexico. Hugh is currently a Tucson Medical Center Hospice Volunteer.

Hugh was a member of the U.S. Olympic rowing team. He received his medical degree from Yale.
